Buildix

I’m very happy to announce that Buildix 2.1 is now available. Headline features for this release are:

• Mingle 2.0 integration using the excellent new Mingle API
• SSL support by default
• Authentication
• Export Project feature
• Now based on Ubuntu 7.10

There has also been a big cleanup of the code, and all integration is broken out into modules. TracCC support is now back in, and I’ve also added the Trac post commit hook to Subversion.

Initially only the packages are available. The VMWare and LiveCD images will come next, and then the EC2 AMIs.

Earlier this week Mingle 2.0 was released by the Studios team. Since then I’ve had a constant stream of people asking me when they can expect to see it as part of Buildix. The happy news is that I’ve been working with the Mingle development team trying out the new API. Due to client commitments I’ve not been able to finish the integration in time for the release, but it is in the works and I’m hoping it will be done soon.

We’re pleased to announce that Buildix is now available as an AMI on the Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) from Amazon! The image id is ami-e4ca2f8d.

There were a few annoying problems with the original VMWare image we released for Buildix 2.0. There is now a new image available which fixes these problems, and also adds the VMWare Tools. For more info, see the Download page.

Mingle 1.1 was released last week, and the updated package is now available for Buildix. Highlights are:

• Differentiate views for different types of cards (e.g. bugs, tasks, stories, risks)
• More powerful filtering capabilities (and/or, negative filters, add/remove conditions)
• Dates (see what’s due Today)
• Remote SVN support
• Build robust workflows with new transition capabilities

It’s been a long time since we initially released Buildix into the wild, and we’ve finally gotten around to releasing a new version! One of the highlights of Buildix 2.0 is the fact that it’s all package based. This will make releasing updates a lot easier, and should mean that you don’t have to wait another 18 months before the next version. You can also install the Buildix packages on your own Ubuntu based system - no need to reinstall!

Other notable improvements include Mingle integration (including up to 5 users free, forever), ground up rewrite of the web interface, Trac version 10, Subversion 1.4, early access to CruiseControl 2.7.2 (including integration with the new Dashboard).

We’ve removed the need to log into the Linux system to administer Buildix - it’s all managed via the web interface.
